Luvaika number one in South Africa BNL for round 8

Jeremie Luvaika put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for North West Eagles, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 8.
The player had a double-double of 22 points and 15 rebounds, while his team beat Rhinos (#5, 0-3), the league's bottom-ranked team 67-55. Eagles maintains the 3rd position in their group in the South African BNL. Eagles is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 2-2 record. In the team's last game Luvaika had a remarkable 55.6% from 2-point range and got four three-pointers out of 7 attempts. He has many years of experience at Eagles, through which he has constantly improved. Jeremie Luvaika has solid league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (3rd best: 13.0rpg) and averages impressive 3.0bpg and 2.5spg.

The second best player in last round's games was young Liam Reid-Laynes (206-C-1998) of league's second-best Soweto Panthers. Reid-Laynes had a very good evening with a double-double of 23 points and 17 rebounds. Bad luck as Panthers lost that game 73-82 to Group B's leader Magic (#1, 4-0). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the top position in Group B. Panthers still maintains its place in the top 2 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team's 2-1 record is not bad at all. Reid-Laynes is one of the most experienced players at Panthers and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 17.0ppg (#7). He also registered 11.3 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was forward Lehlohonolo Mhlongo (PF) of Mpumalanga Rhinos (#5). Mhlongo scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds (!!!). Despite Mhlongo's great performance the Rhinos lost 55-67 to slightly higher-ranked Eagles (#3, 2-2). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Rhinos can only dream about fighting for top spots in Group B. They have awful season losing so far all 3 games. Mhlongo has individually a great season in South Africa. After only 3 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.0ppg (2nd best).

8. Sicelo Dzingwa (195-G/F-1999) of Panthers - 15 points and 8 rebounds
9. Phenyo Gomba (SG) of Eagles - 12 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists
10. Umtha Mavuso (PG) of Rhinos - 8 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists
